The WIZ Lock Dartboard Hanger & Locking System is an invention made by Dave Fitzpatrick in 1991 (although way back then it was just a hanger made of wood, yes wood!)
Over the many years of testing, four prototypes have been made right to the current model (see image below). The WIZ Lock evolved from Wood to Perspex & Velcro in 2007 and the first sales of the WIZ Lock Dartboard Hangers were sold to the Burwood R.S.L. in New South Wales in 2009.
Simon has been testing the WIZ Lock since 2005 and has taken it to England.
The current model has a revolutionary locking clip at the top of the wall plate that the board plate slots up into and then the bottom pushes back into the other disc, the clip stops the top of the board from leaning forward and moving sideways. To rotate the board, pull the bottom out then let the board move down and out. Rotate the board and push it back up into the locking clip and the once again push the bottom of the board into the back plate recess!
The locking clip took Dave 1 year to think about and get right (Dave has told me alot of the idea came to him in his sleep!)
